About Nissan Magnite

The Nissan Magnite is a compact five-seat crossover SUV developed primarily for India and other price-sensitive markets. Launched in December 2020, it became an important entry-level model in Nissan’s SUV range, combining city-friendly dimensions with raised ground clearance and SUV-inspired styling. It is designed in Japan and manufactured at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, India.

The Magnite remains in its first generation. A substantial update introduced in October 2024 brought revised exterior and interior styling, a strengthened body structure, six airbags and additional convenience and safety equipment. Depending on the market, versions use a naturally aspirated or turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine. Transmission choices have included a five-speed manual, an automated manual and an X-Tronic continuously variable transmission. Special editions such as the dark-themed Kuro add distinctive trim rather than major mechanical changes.

Positioned below Nissan’s larger SUVs, the Magnite competes in the affordable B-SUV segment. It is known for practical packaging, accessible running costs, useful technology and a relatively spacious cabin within a sub-four-metre body. Production serves both right- and left-hand-drive markets, with exports extending across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
