About Nissan Largo
The Nissan Largo was a mid-to-large minivan produced mainly for the Japanese market. Its lineage began in the early 1980s with the Vanette Largo, a passenger-focused version of Nissan’s compact van. The C22-based series arrived in 1986, followed by the standalone W30 Largo in May 1993. Production ended in June 1999.
The W30 was wider and more upmarket than Nissan’s smaller Serena, offering a high-roof cabin, elevated driving position and flexible family seating. Depending on specification, it accommodated seven or eight occupants. Its semi-cab-over layout placed the engine beneath the front seating area, helping provide generous interior room within a relatively compact footprint.
W30 versions used either a 2.4-litre petrol engine or a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive and full-time four-wheel drive configurations were available. The range included practical standard models, better-equipped grades such as SX-G and Grandeage, and later Highway Star variants with sportier exterior trim. Some upper versions offered panoramic roof arrangements, rotating second-row seats and electronically controlled suspension.
The Largo is best known for its spacious cabin, distinctive tall-body styling and broad choice of comfort-focused equipment. It occupied an upper position in Nissan’s 1990s minivan range before newer large MPVs, including the Elgrand, became established.
