About Nissan GT-R
The Nissan GT-R is a high-performance 2+2 coupe that served as Nissan’s flagship sports car and technological showcase. Its lineage began in 1969 with the Skyline GT-R, a competition-focused version of the Skyline. Early C10 and C110 models were followed by the better-known R32, R33 and R34 generations, which established the GT-R’s strong links with motorsport and Japanese performance-car culture.
Introduced in 2007, the R35 became the first GT-R sold without the Skyline name. It combined a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 with all-wheel drive, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a rear-mounted transaxle. The model was developed as a usable road car with performance intended to compete with substantially more expensive sports cars. R35 production ended in August 2025 after an unusually long 18-year run.
Versions varied by year and market, with notable examples including Premium, Black Edition, Track Edition, T-spec and the more focused NISMO. Limited editions also marked milestones and regional demand. The GT-R is known for rapid acceleration, strong traction, advanced chassis electronics, hand-assembled engines and distinctive, functional styling. Within Nissan’s range, it sat above the Z as the brand’s halo performance model.
