About Nissan Fuga

The Nissan Fuga is a large luxury sports sedan introduced in Japan in October 2004. It effectively succeeded the long-running Cedric and Gloria as Nissan’s modern executive saloon, combining rear-wheel-drive proportions with a spacious cabin and a stronger focus on performance and driver appeal. Production was centred at Nissan’s Tochigi plant, known for building luxury and sports models.

Two generations were offered. The Y50 ran from 2004 to November 2009, while the more refined Y51 remained on sale from November 2009 until August 2022. Closely related vehicles were marketed internationally through Infiniti as the M and later Q70, placing the Fuga within Nissan’s wider premium-car programme.

Most versions used naturally aspirated V6 petrol engines, with common badges including 250GT, 350GT and 370GT. Depending on year and specification, the range included rear- or all-wheel drive, sport-oriented Type S models and comfort-focused VIP grades. The Y51 also introduced the rear-wheel-drive Fuga Hybrid with Nissan’s one-motor, two-clutch system.

The Fuga is known for blending executive-car comfort with responsive handling. Typical qualities include a quiet interior, generous passenger space, smooth V6 performance and extensive luxury and convenience equipment. Within Nissan’s Japanese lineup, it sat above the Skyline as a larger, more formal sedan while retaining a distinctly driver-focused character.
