About Nissan AURA

Nissan introduced the AURA in Japan in 2021 as the Note AURA, a more upmarket interpretation of the third-generation Note. It is a five-door compact hatchback positioned above the regular Note, combining similar practical proportions with wider bodywork, distinctive styling, higher-grade cabin materials and added sound insulation. Production began at Nissan’s Oppama plant in Japan, reflecting the model’s strong focus on the domestic market.

The AURA has so far remained within one model generation, based on the E13-series platform, with a substantial exterior and equipment update introduced in 2024. It is offered exclusively with Nissan’s e-POWER series-hybrid system: a petrol engine generates electricity, while electric motors provide the driving force. Front-wheel-drive models use one traction motor, while G FOUR versions add an electrically driven rear axle for four-wheel drive.

The range has included G and leather-trimmed variants, NISMO performance models and AUTECH editions, including the more driver-focused AUTECH SPORTS SPEC. Specifications vary by model year. The AURA is known for smooth motor response, quiet operation, a refined interior and compact dimensions suited to urban use. Within Nissan’s lineup, it serves as a premium electrified hatchback for buyers seeking more finish and performance than the standard Note without moving to a larger vehicle.
