About Nissan Atleon
The Nissan Atleon is a cab-over commercial truck developed mainly for European markets. It was produced in Spain by Nissan Motor Ibérica and occupied the light- to medium-duty part of Nissan’s commercial vehicle range, above smaller models such as the Cabstar. Its compact cab layout and body-on-frame construction suited urban deliveries, regional transport and specialist conversions.
The model’s background is linked to the Ebro L/M-series trucks. After Nissan took control of the Spanish manufacturer, these vehicles gradually adopted Nissan branding. A revised version appeared in 1997 under Eco-T and Eco-T Atleon names in different markets. From 2000, Atleon became the main name across Europe. A substantial update followed in 2006, bringing revised Cabstar-style front-end design, newer common-rail diesel engines and six-speed manual transmissions. The Atleon name was replaced by NT500 in the early 2010s.
Versions varied by market and included chassis-cab, flatbed and box-body configurations, with several wheelbases and gross weight ratings. Most used rear-wheel drive, diesel power and a tilting cab for maintenance access. The Atleon is known chiefly as a practical, adaptable work truck, offering greater load capacity than Nissan’s compact commercial vehicles without moving into the brand’s heaviest truck classes.
