About Mitsubishi Zinger
The Mitsubishi Zinger is a Taiwan-developed multi-purpose vehicle created by China Motor Corporation in cooperation with Mitsubishi Motors. Introduced in 2005, it was designed mainly for Taiwan and other Asian markets rather than as a core global Mitsubishi model. Its concept combines the cabin versatility of an MPV, the stance of an SUV and the carrying ability of a light commercial vehicle.
The original Zinger used body-on-frame underpinnings related to the Mitsubishi Challenger, also known as the Pajero Sport. A rear-wheel-drive layout, high ground clearance and a spacious, adaptable interior helped distinguish it from car-based compact MPVs and crossovers.
Its development includes the original 2005 model, a substantial redesign in 2015, a further exterior and equipment update in 2019, and a new-generation version introduced in Taiwan in 2023. The latest model replaced the long-running 2.4-litre petrol engine with a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit and added modern driver-assistance technology. Five-seat and seven-seat versions have been offered, while the broader Zinger range has also included utility and pickup derivatives.
Outside Taiwan, variations were sold in selected markets under names including Mitsubishi Fuzion and Soueast Zinger. Within the regional Mitsubishi and CMC lineups, the Zinger is best known as a practical link between passenger, recreational and commercial vehicles, with an emphasis on interior space, flexible seating and load-carrying usefulness.
