About Mitsubishi Raider
The Mitsubishi Raider is a mid-size pickup sold for the 2006–2009 model years. Created for North America, it marked Mitsubishi’s return to the regional pickup market and added an open-bed utility vehicle to a lineup otherwise centred on cars and SUVs. The model had a single generation.
Based on the Dodge Dakota, the Raider was assembled at Chrysler’s Warren Truck plant in Michigan but received distinct Mitsubishi exterior and interior styling. It was offered in Extended Cab and four-door Double Cab forms, with bed length and rear-seat space varying by body style. Both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations were available during the model’s run.
A 3.7-litre V6 was the standard engine, paired with manual or automatic transmissions. Earlier versions could also be specified with a 4.7-litre V8 and five-speed automatic. Trim levels included LS, DuroCross and XLS, while the 2009 range was reduced to two rear-wheel-drive LS models.
The Raider was positioned as a more manageable alternative to a full-size truck and, particularly in Double Cab form, as an SUV alternative. It is chiefly known for its Dakota-based construction, unusual availability of V8 power in an import-brand mid-size pickup, practical cab choices and bold Mitsubishi design.
