About Mitsubishi Minicab
The Mitsubishi Minicab is a long-running kei-class commercial vehicle developed primarily for the Japanese market. The first Minicab Truck appeared in 1966, replacing the bonnet-style Mitsubishi 360 light truck with a space-efficient cab-over design. A van followed in 1968, establishing the truck-and-van format that has defined the range.
Across multiple generations, the Minicab has evolved with Japan’s kei-vehicle regulations while retaining its compact footprint and practical focus. Major versions have included open-bed trucks, enclosed cargo vans, panel vans, high-roof models and configurations for specialist work. Petrol models have offered two- or four-wheel drive, with manual or automatic transmissions depending on the generation and specification. Since 2014, petrol Minicab vans and trucks have been supplied by Suzuki, while retaining Mitsubishi branding.
The electric Minicab-MiEV van joined the range in 2011, using technology related to the i-MiEV. It later returned as the updated Minicab EV, aimed mainly at delivery fleets, businesses and public-sector users.
