The Mercury Colony Park was a full-size, four-door station wagon produced for the 1957–1991 model years. It served as Mercury’s premium wagon and, during parts of its production run, the brand’s only full-size estate model. Positioned near the upper end of the Mercury range, it combined family-oriented space with more elaborate trim and equipment than lower-priced wagons.

Across six generations, the Colony Park followed changes in American full-size car design. Early versions used distinctive hardtop-inspired styling, while later models adopted more conventional body-on-frame construction shared with Mercury’s large cars. From 1969 it was associated with the Marquis line, and the final generation was aligned with the Grand Marquis. The 1979 redesign moved the model to Ford’s smaller Panther platform while retaining rear-wheel drive, V8 power and substantial passenger and cargo capacity.

The Colony Park is especially known for its simulated woodgrain side panels, a defining feature throughout most of its life. Depending on year and configuration, versions offered two or three seating rows, with capacity for large families. Practical features included folding rear seats and, on later generations, a tailgate that could open downward or swing sideways. GS and LS trims appeared near the end of production. The model remains representative of the large, comfort-focused American station wagon before minivans and sport utility vehicles became dominant.
