About Mercedes-Benz X-Class
The Mercedes-Benz X-Class was a mid-size, double-cab pickup produced from 2017 until May 2020. It was the brand’s first series-production pickup in this segment and formed part of the Mercedes-Benz Vans range. Built in Barcelona through Daimler’s alliance with Renault-Nissan, it shared its core platform with the Nissan Navara but featured distinct Mercedes-Benz styling, chassis tuning, interior finishes and equipment.
Only one generation was offered, identified by the W470 series code. The range included PURE, PROGRESSIVE and POWER equipment lines, moving from work-focused specifications to more comfort-oriented and premium versions. Engine availability varied by market, with four-cylinder diesel models such as the X 220 d and X 250 d, plus the flagship X 350 d 4MATIC with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive.
The X-Class occupied an unusual position between conventional utility pickups and luxury SUVs. It retained a separate load bed, a robust frame and off-road capability while placing greater emphasis on refinement, road manners, safety and cabin comfort than many mainstream rivals. Known for this combination of working-vehicle practicality and Mercedes-Benz presentation, it remained a niche model and ended after a relatively short production run.
