The Mercedes-Benz T-Class is a compact, van-derived multi-purpose vehicle introduced in 2022. Developed primarily for families and leisure users, it combines passenger-car equipment with the space and practicality of a small van. It occupies the entry point to Mercedes-Benz’s private-customer van range, sitting below the larger V-Class.
The first-generation T-Class belongs to the 420 model series and is produced in France through Mercedes-Benz’s industrial cooperation with Renault. It shares its basic architecture with the Mercedes-Benz Citan and Renault Kangoo, but has distinct styling, interior trim and passenger-focused specifications.
Depending on market and model year, the range includes standard-wheelbase five-seat versions and a longer variant with up to seven seats. Petrol and diesel models have been sold under designations including T 160, T 180, T 160 d and T 180 d, with manual or dual-clutch automatic transmissions. The closely related battery-electric version is marketed separately as the EQT.
The T-Class is known for its wide sliding side doors, low loading height, flexible rear seating and generous interior space relative to its compact exterior dimensions. Available features include MBUX infotainment and a broad range of driver-assistance systems. Its main role is to provide a more refined, passenger-oriented alternative to a conventional compact commercial van.
