About Mercedes-Benz GLK

The Mercedes-Benz GLK is a compact premium SUV produced from 2008 to 2015 under the internal code X204. Developed as an SUV counterpart to the 204-series C-Class, it sat below the larger M-Class in the Mercedes-Benz range. Its five-door body combined relatively compact dimensions with an upright driving position and a distinctly angular design.

The GLK remained a single generation throughout its life. A substantial 2012 update revised the exterior and interior while adding newer powertrain, safety and driver-assistance technology. Production was centred in Bremen, Germany, with manufacturing also established in Beijing for the Chinese market.

Depending on the country and model year, the range included four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Rear-wheel drive was offered on selected versions, while many models used Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC all-wheel drive. BlueEFFICIENCY and BlueTEC variants emphasised lower fuel consumption or emissions, while appearance packages provided a sportier look.

The GLK is known for blending the comfort and road manners of a passenger car with useful cargo space, all-weather ability and moderate off-road capability. In 2015, it was succeeded by the GLC as Mercedes-Benz introduced a revised naming system for its SUV line.
