About Mercedes-Benz GLB
The Mercedes-Benz GLB is a compact premium SUV introduced in 2019. It sits between the smaller GLA and larger GLC in the brand’s SUV range, combining manageable exterior dimensions with an upright body and a flexible cabin. A defining feature is its optional third-row seating, allowing selected versions to carry up to seven occupants, although the rearmost seats are primarily intended for occasional use.
The first generation formed part of Mercedes-Benz’s compact-car family and was initially produced in Mexico for international markets. A 2023 update brought revised styling, newer MBUX functions, additional standard equipment and mild-hybrid petrol engines in some regions. Depending on market and model year, versions have included petrol and diesel power, front- or all-wheel drive, and the performance-focused Mercedes-AMG GLB 35.
A second generation was presented in late 2025 and entered production in Hungary in 2026. The range launched with battery-electric GLB 250+ and GLB 350 4MATIC models, with 48-volt hybrid versions also planned. It retains the practical, boxy format and available seven-seat layout while adding a new vehicle architecture and more digital technology. The GLB is known as the utility-focused member of Mercedes-Benz’s compact SUV line, offering greater passenger and cargo versatility than a typical small crossover without moving into the mid-size class.
