About Mercedes-Benz EQS
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is a full-size battery-electric luxury model introduced in 2021. It was the first Mercedes-EQ vehicle based on the brand’s dedicated modular architecture for large electric cars. Positioned as an electric alternative to the S-Class, it uses distinctive one-bow styling and EV-specific engineering. The EQS saloon is produced at Factory 56 in Sindelfingen, Germany.
The EQS remains in its first generation. The range began with the five-door saloon and expanded in 2022 with the EQS SUV, a full-size model offering up to three rows of seating and built in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Depending on market and model year, versions include rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor 4MATIC configurations. The wider family has also included a Mercedes-AMG performance saloon and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV.
Sitting above the EQE, the EQS occupies the top end of Mercedes-Benz’s electric passenger-car range. It is known for quiet operation, comfort-oriented road manners, aerodynamic design and a spacious, technology-focused interior. Notable features include MBUX infotainment, the available Hyperscreen display, air suspension and rear-axle steering. Specifications and equipment vary by country and year, but refinement, long-distance capability and advanced onboard technology define the model.
