About Mercedes-Benz EQC

The Mercedes-Benz EQC is a five-door, battery-electric luxury SUV introduced in 2018 and launched in 2019. It was the first series-production model marketed under the Mercedes-EQ electric-vehicle brand, establishing a bridge between the company’s conventional SUV range and the later EQA, EQB, EQE SUV and EQS SUV.

Only one generation was produced, carrying the N293 model code. European production began in May 2019 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen, where the EQC shared assembly facilities with combustion-engine and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Models for China were also built in Beijing. Production ended in the second quarter of 2023.

The principal version was the EQC 400 4MATIC, using two electric motors to provide all-wheel drive, 300 kW of power and 760 Nm of torque. An 80 kWh lithium-ion battery was standard, while range and charging specifications varied by model year and market. Variations mainly concerned equipment and appearance, including AMG Line specifications and the limited Edition 1886 launch model.

Positioned as a mid-size premium electric SUV, the EQC was known for quiet operation, strong acceleration, a comfort-focused ride and a well-finished cabin. Its restrained styling and familiar Mercedes-Benz controls made it a relatively conventional entry into electric motoring rather than a radically packaged dedicated EV.
