About Mercedes-Benz CLE
The Mercedes-Benz CLE is a premium two-door model introduced in 2023 as a standalone series. It combines the roles formerly covered by the C-Class and E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet, drawing technology from both model families. The Coupé entered the European market in November 2023, followed by the Cabriolet in 2024. Both are produced in Bremen, Germany.
The C236 Coupé and A236 Cabriolet form the CLE’s first generation. Both are four-seat grand tourers with a long bonnet, pillarless side windows and an interior designed around digital features and long-distance comfort. The Cabriolet adds a powered fabric roof and specialised open-air comfort equipment.
Powertrains vary by market. The range has included four- and six-cylinder petrol engines with mild-hybrid assistance, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions, and rear- or 4MATIC all-wheel drive. AMG Line models provide sportier styling, while the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé and Cabriolet add an inline-six engine, performance all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering and AMG chassis tuning.
Within the Mercedes-Benz line-up, the CLE is a style-led alternative to conventional saloons and SUVs. It is known for combining elegant proportions, modern infotainment, usable rear seating and touring comfort rather than the narrow focus of a dedicated sports car.
