About Mercedes-Benz Citan
The Mercedes-Benz Citan is a compact light commercial vehicle introduced in 2012 as the smallest van in the brand’s range, below the mid-size Vito and large Sprinter. It is primarily designed for urban delivery, service and trade use, combining van practicality with dimensions suited to congested streets and restricted parking.
The model is produced in Maubeuge, France, through Mercedes-Benz’s cooperation with Renault. Two generations have been offered. The original Citan shared its basis with the contemporary Renault Kangoo and established Mercedes-Benz in the small-van segment. The second generation arrived in 2021 on newer architecture, with Mercedes-specific design, chassis tuning, safety equipment and connectivity.
The range centres on the Panel Van for goods transport and the Citan Tourer for commercial passenger use. Depending on market and model year, versions may differ in body length, engine, transmission, seating and load-area configuration. The battery-electric eCitan joined the range in 2023, offering Panel Van and Tourer forms for operations suited to electric driving.
Within the Mercedes-Benz van portfolio, the Citan is aimed at users who need less space than a Vito but still value a dedicated cargo area, sliding side doors and a low loading height. It is known for efficient use of space, easy access, everyday comfort and a broad selection of driver-assistance and infotainment features.
