About Mazda Verisa
The Mazda Verisa was a Japan-market compact car introduced in June 2004 and produced until September 2015. Developed around Mazda’s “simple, quality and compact” concept, it combined the manoeuvrability of a small five-door hatchback with a more refined cabin and a mature, understated appearance. Its name joined “verita”, Italian for truth, with “satisfaction”.
Produced in a single generation, the Verisa occupied a niche alongside the Demio, known internationally as the Mazda2. While the Demio served as Mazda’s mainstream small car, the Verisa was positioned as a more style- and comfort-focused alternative. Particular attention was given to interior materials, quietness, craftsmanship and ease of use.
Regular versions used a 1.5-litre DOHC petrol engine paired with a four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. Buyers could choose front-wheel drive or Mazda’s electronically controlled e-4WD system. The main grades included C and the more richly equipped L, which featured leather seats. Mazda refreshed the model during its long production run and offered several appearance-led special editions, including L-style, T Style and Classy Style. The Verisa is mainly known for its compact dimensions, comfortable interior, rounded design and unusually long production life without a full generational replacement.
