About Mazda Titan
The Mazda Titan is a cab-over commercial truck introduced in Japan in 1971 as the successor to the E2000. It has long served as Mazda’s principal light- and medium-duty truck, complementing the brand’s vans and smaller utility vehicles rather than its passenger-car range.
Early generations were developed and produced by Mazda, with several redesigns adapting the Titan to changing payload, emissions and operator requirements. Since 2004, the main Titan range has been supplied by Isuzu and closely related to the Isuzu Elf, allowing Mazda to retain a competitive truck offering while concentrating its own development resources elsewhere.
The line has progressed through seven generations. Depending on model year and market, versions have included standard and wide cabs, single- and crew-cab layouts, short to extra-long wheelbases, two- and four-wheel drive, and chassis suited to flatbeds, box bodies, tippers and other specialist conversions. The compact Titan Dash, introduced in 2000, covered the one-ton class below the main range.
Outside Japan, earlier Titans were also sold under Mazda T-series names and, in some markets, as the Ford Trader. The model is known chiefly for space-efficient cab-over packaging, practical body choices, diesel power and manoeuvrability in urban or regional commercial work. Current Japanese-market models continue to offer multiple cab, chassis and payload configurations.
