About Mazda Mazda3

The Mazda3 is a compact passenger car introduced in 2003 as Mazda’s global C-segment model. Initially called the Axela in Japan, it has been offered mainly as a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback. It combines everyday practicality with a greater emphasis on styling and driving involvement than a typical economy-focused compact car.

Four generations have appeared. The first entered production in 2003, followed by the second in 2008, the third in 2013 and the fourth, unveiled in 2018, from 2019. Powertrains and specifications vary by market, with petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and hybrid options in some regions. Performance versions have included the Mazdaspeed3 and Mazda3 MPS. Later generations adopted Mazda’s Skyactiv engineering and Kodo design themes, while selected versions offer all-wheel drive or turbocharged power.

Within Mazda’s range, the Mazda3 has long served as a core compact model and one of the brand’s best-known global nameplates. It is positioned above basic small-car transport, with particular attention to responsive handling, distinctive exterior design and cabin quality. The sedan provides a conventional separate boot, while the hatchback offers greater cargo flexibility. Across its generations, the model has been known for balancing efficiency, comfort, useful technology and driver engagement.
