About Mazda Flair Crossover
The Mazda Flair Crossover is a Japan-market kei crossover introduced in January 2014. It combines the compact dimensions and low running costs of a kei car with SUV-inspired styling and a practical, high-roof cabin. The model is supplied to Mazda by Suzuki under an OEM arrangement and gives Mazda a distinctive light-vehicle alternative to its conventional Flair and taller Flair Wagon.
Two generations have been produced. The first established the model’s characteristic boxy profile, round headlights, raised ground clearance and colourful two-tone finishes. The second generation arrived in February 2020 with a roomier cabin, stronger SUV detailing, improved luggage flexibility and expanded driver-assistance technology. A substantial 2026 update revised the front design, equipment and safety systems.
Versions have included naturally aspirated and turbocharged 660 cc engines, front-wheel drive and full-time four-wheel drive. Later models use mild-hybrid assistance, while 4WD variants may include functions intended for snow, slippery surfaces and controlled descents. Trim levels range from simpler everyday versions to better-equipped and turbocharged models.
Known for easy manoeuvrability, efficient packaging and flexible rear seating, the Flair Crossover suits urban use while offering useful features for leisure activities. Washable or wipe-clean luggage surfaces, generous storage and a relatively upright driving position strengthen its practical character within Mazda’s Japanese kei-car range.
