About Mazda Flair
The Mazda Flair is a Japanese-market kei passenger car introduced in October 2012 as the successor to the AZ-Wagon. Supplied by Suzuki and closely related to the Wagon R, it gives Mazda a practical, high-roof small car designed around Japan’s kei-vehicle regulations.
The Flair is known for combining very compact exterior dimensions with a relatively spacious four-seat cabin. Its upright body, wide-opening doors, flexible seating and useful storage suit everyday commuting, shopping and short family trips. A tight turning circle and modest running costs also support its role as an urban car.
Two main Mazda generations have been offered. The original arrived in 2012, while a fully redesigned second generation went on sale in March 2017 with revised styling, improved packaging, mild-hybrid powertrains and expanded safety equipment. Later updates altered the design, trim structure and driver-assistance technology.
Early versions included standard XG and XS grades, alongside the more assertively styled Custom Style range and a turbocharged XT. The current line-up consists of the petrol G and mild-hybrid HYBRID XS, each available with front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and a CVT. Within Mazda’s range, the Flair serves as a straightforward everyday kei wagon, valued mainly for space efficiency, ease of use and economical operation.
