About Mazda CX-60
The Mazda CX-60 is a five-seat, two-row mid-size crossover SUV introduced in 2022. It was the first model in Mazda’s Large Product Group and marked a move above the CX-5 in size, price and positioning. Developed mainly for markets including Europe, Japan and Australia, it uses Mazda’s longitudinal Large Architecture and is built at the Hofu plant in Japan.
The CX-60 remains in its first generation. Its powertrain range varies by country, but major versions include Mazda’s first plug-in hybrid, combining a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, and 3.3-litre inline-six petrol or diesel engines, often paired with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance. Some markets also offer a non-hybrid 2.5-litre petrol model. Rear-wheel drive or rear-biased all-wheel drive is used depending on the version, with an eight-speed automatic transmission widely fitted.
Within Mazda’s SUV range, the CX-60 is the more compact two-row member of the rear-wheel-drive-based Large Product family, complementing larger models such as the three-row CX-80. It is known for its long-bonnet proportions, Kodo styling, driver-focused layout and interiors influenced by Japanese materials and design. Its role is to combine family-SUV practicality with stronger performance, towing capability and a more upmarket cabin than Mazda’s mainstream crossovers.
