About Maserati Quattroporte
The Maserati Quattroporte is a large four-door luxury sports saloon that first appeared at the 1963 Turin Motor Show. Its name means “four doors” in Italian. The original concept combined a spacious, refined body with a powerful racing-derived V8 engine, establishing the formula for one of Maserati’s most recognisable model lines.
Produced across six generations, the Quattroporte served for decades as Maserati’s flagship saloon. Its form and engineering changed significantly over time, ranging from formal luxury cars to more compact and overtly sporting versions. Notable designs came from Frua, Bertone, Giugiaro, Gandini and Pininfarina, followed by Maserati’s own design team.
Depending on generation and market, the Quattroporte was offered with naturally aspirated or twin-turbocharged V6 and V8 petrol engines, as well as diesel power in the final generation. Rear-wheel drive was traditional, while selected later variants offered Q4 all-wheel drive. Trim and performance choices included luxury-focused models and the high-output Trofeo.
Known for combining long-distance comfort, distinctive Italian styling and sports-car character, the Quattroporte occupied a more exclusive position than mainstream executive saloons. The final example was delivered in July 2024, ending a production lineage of more than 60 years.
