About Maserati MC20
The Maserati MC20 is a two-seat, mid-engined super sports car unveiled in 2020 as the brand’s halo model and the starting point of a renewed focus on performance and motor racing. Its name stands for Maserati Corse 2020. Developed in Modena and assembled at Maserati’s historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant, it marked the company’s return to producing an in-house-designed engine.
Power comes from the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The MC20 is known for its carbon-fibre monocoque, low weight, butterfly doors and restrained aerodynamic styling. Its layout and construction place it in the premium supercar class, above Maserati’s grand tourers and performance SUVs.
The original MC20 is a fixed-roof coupé. The MC20 Cielo, introduced in 2022, adds a retractable glass roof that can switch between transparent and opaque settings. Limited Icona and Leggenda editions followed, using colours and details inspired by the MC12 road and racing cars. Competition-related derivatives include the Maserati GT2 race car and the more powerful, road-legal GT2 Stradale.
Despite its track-focused engineering, the MC20 retains the cabin finish and road usability associated with Maserati. It is best known for combining compact supercar proportions, strong acceleration and Italian design with a degree of everyday comfort.
