About Lotus Evora

The Lotus Evora is a mid-engined sports car introduced in 2008 and sold from 2009 until production ended in 2021. Known internally as Type 122, it was the first all-new Lotus road car since the Elise and brought greater comfort, cabin space and everyday usability to the brand’s traditionally lightweight, driver-focused range.

Most versions use a mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6, paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. The original naturally aspirated model was followed by the supercharged Evora S. Later developments included the extensively revised Evora 400, lighter Sport 410, GT410 and limited-production GT430. In North America, the final major version was the Evora GT. Depending on specification and market, the car was offered as a two-seater or a 2+2 with small rear seats.

Within the Lotus line-up, the Evora sat above the Elise and offered a more road-oriented alternative to the Exige. Its bonded aluminium chassis and composite body helped control weight, while its suspension was tuned to combine precise handling with a relatively compliant ride. The model is particularly associated with balanced mid-engine dynamics, communicative steering and stronger long-distance ability than smaller Lotus sports cars. It also served as an important bridge between the Elise-era range and the later Emira.
