About Lotus Evija
The Lotus Evija is a fully electric two-seat hypercar unveiled in 2019 under the Type 130 project code. It was the brand’s first electric production model and first hypercar, created as a technical flagship rather than a direct replacement for a conventional Lotus sports car. Its production run is limited to 130 examples, with cars hand-built at Lotus’s home in Hethel, England.
The Evija uses a carbon-fibre monocoque, four electric motors and all-wheel drive with torque vectoring. Lotus developed it around a target output of 2,000 PS, placing it among the most powerful road cars conceived for series production. Distinctive features include active aerodynamics, large Venturi tunnels through the rear bodywork and a battery mounted behind the cabin, reflecting the layout of the brand’s mid-engined cars. Lotus lists many performance figures as targets based on simulations.
Variations include the eight-car Evija Fittipaldi edition, inspired by Emerson Fittipaldi and the Lotus Type 72 Formula One car, and the Evija X, a one-off track derivative.
