About Lotus 3-Eleven
The Lotus 3-Eleven is a limited-production, open-cockpit two-seater developed primarily for circuit driving. Revealed at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed, it entered production in 2016 and represented the most extreme end of Lotus’s sports-car range. Its design followed the earlier 2-Eleven concept, combining minimalist bodywork with a strong focus on low weight, aerodynamics and driver involvement.
Built around a bespoke extruded and bonded aluminium chassis, the 3-Eleven used lightweight carbon-composite body panels and a supercharged 3.5-litre V6. Initial models were offered in Road and Race forms. The Road version paired its engine with a six-speed manual transmission and was intended for road use where local regulations allowed. The more powerful, track-only Race version added competition-focused equipment, more aggressive aerodynamics and a sequential gearbox.
Lotus later introduced the 3-Eleven 430 as the final and most developed road-going variation. Production concluded with this version in 2019. Rather than serving as a conventional everyday sports car, the 3-Eleven occupied a specialist halo position in the Lotus range. It is best known for its exposed cockpit, very low mass, direct controls, substantial downforce and performance centred on track use.
