About Lincoln MKS
The Lincoln MKS is a full-size luxury sedan sold for the 2009–2016 model years. Built at Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant, it served as Lincoln’s largest and most prestigious saloon during much of its production run, positioned above the smaller MKZ. It was designed mainly for North American buyers seeking comfort, strong performance and modern technology in a traditional four-door format.
The MKS had one generation, with a substantial update for 2013 that revised its styling, powertrains, chassis tuning and interior technology. All versions used a six-speed automatic transmission. The standard 3.7-litre naturally aspirated V6 was offered with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive, depending on model year. From 2010, the main performance variation was the MKS EcoBoost, combining a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 with all-wheel drive.
Based on Ford’s D3/D4 large-car architecture, also used by the Ford Taurus, the MKS combined shared engineering with Lincoln-specific design, equipment and cabin materials. It became known for a quiet ride, substantial road presence, comfortable seating and a broad range of convenience and driver-assistance features for its era. Production ended in 2016, and the revived Continental assumed its role in Lincoln’s sedan range for the 2017 model year.
