About Lexus RC
The Lexus RC is a two-door, four-seat luxury sports coupe introduced in 2014. Developed as a more performance-focused alternative to Lexus saloons, it occupied the space below the larger, more expensive LC flagship coupe. The RC used a rear-wheel-drive-based layout, although all-wheel drive was offered with selected engines in some markets. Production took place in Japan at Toyota’s Tahara plant.
The RC remained in a single generation throughout its production life, receiving a substantial design and chassis update for the 2019 model year. Available versions varied by country and included turbocharged four-cylinder, naturally aspirated V6 and petrol-electric hybrid powertrains. F Sport models added more assertive styling and handling-focused equipment without becoming separate high-performance models.
At the top of the range, the RC F used a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8, rear-wheel drive and dedicated suspension, braking and aerodynamic components. It also provided the basis for GT3 racing cars. Known for distinctive styling, a well-finished cabin and grand-touring character, the RC generally prioritised refinement and everyday usability alongside sporty handling. Lexus ended RC and RC F production after the 2025 model year, with the RC F Final Edition marking the conclusion of the series.
