About Kia Visto
The Kia Visto is a five-door city hatchback introduced in South Korea in 1999. It was Kia’s first A-segment minicompact passenger car and occupied the entry point of the brand’s range, aimed at urban drivers seeking low running costs, easy parking and useful cabin space in a short body.
Developed during the early period of Hyundai-Kia platform sharing, the Visto was closely related to the Hyundai Atos Prime. It used a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout and a tall body that prioritised headroom and practicality. Despite its compact exterior, the upright design and five-door format made it versatile for everyday use.
The Visto remained within a single generation during its production run, which ended in the early 2000s. Most versions used a 798 cc four-cylinder engine, with petrol and LPG applications depending on the market. Naturally aspirated models focused on economy, while a turbocharged version offered stronger performance. Manual and automatic transmissions were available, and equipment differed by trim and country. The later New Visto update introduced detail and equipment changes rather than a complete redesign.
Sold mainly in South Korea and selected export markets, including Indonesia, the Visto was positioned as affordable basic transport. It is known for compact dimensions, simple mechanicals, manoeuvrability and efficient use of interior space.
