About Kia Venga
The Kia Venga is a five-door compact MPV developed primarily for European buyers. Introduced in late 2009, it combined a B-segment footprint with the tall body and flexible cabin associated with larger family cars. It occupied a practical position in Kia’s European range, offering an alternative to conventional superminis and hatchbacks for drivers needing easier access and more interior space.
The Venga remained in a single generation throughout its production life. A substantial update was presented in 2014 and reached European markets in early 2015, bringing revised front and rear styling, cabin changes and newer equipment. Depending on country and model year, the range included 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol or diesel engines, manual transmissions and selected automatic versions. All models used front-wheel drive.
Its defining qualities were efficient packaging, a high seating position and versatile passenger and luggage space. The sliding, split-folding rear seat allowed owners to balance rear legroom against cargo capacity, while the tall roof helped provide an open cabin. Designed and engineered in Europe, the Venga was produced in Slovakia from 2011 until production ended in April 2019. It is chiefly remembered as Kia’s small, space-focused MPV from a period when compact people carriers were an important part of the European market.
