About Kia Trade

The Kia Trade is a cab-over commercial truck developed for local delivery, construction, agriculture and other load-carrying work. It belongs to Kia’s earlier range of conventional diesel work vehicles and has roots in the company’s Mazda-derived commercial truck programme. In most European catalogues, production runs from 1992 to 2001, although registration years and availability differ by market.

Rather than passing through several distinct generations, the Trade remained within one main model series, with updates and specification changes during its production life. It was sold primarily as a rear-wheel-drive chassis cab or flatbed truck. Tipper bodies and other specialist conversions were also available, depending on the country and body supplier.

Versions differed in wheelbase, payload rating and engine. Naturally aspirated diesel units were typical, including 3.5- and 3.6-litre engines in some markets, usually paired with a manual transmission. Equipment was functional and focused on commercial use rather than passenger-car comfort.

Within Kia’s historical line-up, the Trade occupied the heavier end of the light- and medium-duty truck range. It was positioned above smaller Bongo-based models and served buyers needing greater carrying capacity without moving to a full-size heavy truck. The model is chiefly known for straightforward cab-over packaging, good use of chassis length and a simple, work-oriented design. It was later replaced in parts of Kia’s export range by newer trucks such as the Pamax.
