About Kia Stinger

The Kia Stinger is a five-door fastback sports saloon developed as a high-performance flagship for Kia. Introduced in 2017 and sold as a 2018 model in some markets, it translated ideas from the earlier Kia GT concept into a production grand tourer. Its arrival marked a significant expansion beyond the brand’s established range of mainstream cars and SUVs.

The Stinger remained within a single generation, with a substantial update introduced in 2020 for the following model years. Depending on the market and year, versions used turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engines, a twin-turbocharged V6 or, in selected regions, a diesel engine. Rear-wheel drive defined its basic layout, while all-wheel drive was widely available. An eight-speed automatic transmission was standard across most versions. GT and related high-performance trims represented the top of the range, while equipment levels and names varied by country.

Production concluded in 2023, with the limited Tribute Edition marking the end of the model. The Stinger was positioned as an alternative to premium sports saloons and liftbacks, combining strong performance with long-distance comfort and everyday usability. It is particularly known for its rear-drive proportions, spacious cabin, large liftback cargo area and balance between responsive handling and refined cruising.
