About Kia Mohave
The Kia Mohave is a large, body-on-frame SUV introduced in 2008. Developed in South Korea, it was designed as a more rugged and upmarket alternative to Kia’s road-focused crossovers. The model uses a rear-wheel-drive-based layout, with four-wheel drive available, and offers three-row seating in many configurations. It was sold as the Mohave in Korea and several export markets, while North America received it as the Kia Borrego for the 2009 model year.
Although it remained on the same basic generation throughout its production life, the Mohave received substantial updates. A 2016 facelift modernised its design and equipment, followed in 2019 by the extensively revised Mohave the Master, which introduced new exterior styling, a redesigned cabin and improved ride refinement. Engine availability varied by country and year, including 3.0-litre V6 diesel, 3.8-litre V6 petrol and 4.6-litre V8 petrol units.
The Mohave served for many years as Kia’s flagship SUV, valued for its robust construction, spacious interior, strong engine options and traditional off-road-oriented character. Its long production run ended in South Korea in 2024 as Kia shifted its range towards newer SUVs and electrified models.
