About Kia KX7
The Kia KX7 is a mid-size crossover SUV developed for China and introduced in 2017. It was produced locally by the Dongfeng Yueda Kia joint venture and positioned near the top of Kia’s Chinese SUV range. Its purpose was to offer the space and road presence of a large family vehicle at a lower local-market price than the imported Sorento.
Closely related to the third-generation Sorento, the KX7 received its own exterior and cabin details for the Chinese market. It remained a single-generation model without a major redesign. The five-door body was sold with five- and seven-seat layouts, giving buyers a choice between greater luggage capacity and an additional seating row.
The range included naturally aspirated 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre petrol engines, along with a stronger turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol unit. A six-speed automatic transmission was used across the main launch range. Most versions had front-wheel drive, while selected high-specification turbo models added four-wheel drive.
Within Kia’s line-up, the KX7 sat above smaller KX-series SUVs such as the KX3 and KX5. It is chiefly known as a China-specific, Sorento-derived model with practical seating, conventional petrol powertrains and restrained family-SUV styling. Higher trims added comfort, infotainment and driver-assistance equipment, while its core qualities were cabin versatility and competitive local pricing.
