About Jeep Gladiator
The Jeep Gladiator is a body-on-frame, four-door midsize pickup combining a five-seat cabin and five-foot cargo bed with Jeep’s established off-road design. Introduced for the 2020 model year and built in Toledo, Ohio, it returned Jeep to the pickup market after a long absence. It is the brand’s dedicated truck, adding cargo and towing utility while retaining four-wheel drive and open-air features such as a removable roof and doors and a folding windscreen.
The name covers two distinct eras. The original Gladiator arrived for 1963 as a full-size pickup related to the Wagoneer, with J-200 and J-300 versions and several cargo-bed and commercial configurations. Jeep discontinued the Gladiator name after 1971, although the related J-Series continued through 1987. The modern JT generation was unveiled in 2018 and reached US showrooms in 2019 as a 2020 model.
Versions vary by market and model year. Common trims include Sport, Willys, Sahara or Overland, Rubicon and Mojave, plus special editions. Rubicon focuses on low-speed trail and rock capability, while Mojave is configured for demanding desert terrain.
