About Jeep Compass
The Jeep Compass is a compact crossover SUV introduced in 2006. It was created as a more road-oriented and accessible Jeep than the brand’s traditional off-road models, while retaining cues such as the seven-slot grille and available four-wheel drive. Its five-door layout and manageable size place it in the mainstream compact SUV class, below larger Jeep family models.
The first generation established the nameplate, and the second-generation global model arrived for 2017 with more unified Jeep styling, a modernised cabin and production across several countries. Versions vary by region, but the range has commonly included standard road-focused trims, better-equipped Limited models and the Trailhawk, which adds off-road-oriented hardware. Petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains have been offered at different times and in different markets.
A third generation entered production in Italy in 2025 for Europe and other markets. Based on Stellantis’s STLA Medium platform, it broadened the line with hybrid and fully electric variants, while the earlier generation remained on sale in North America for 2026. The Compass is chiefly known for combining everyday comfort, useful cabin space and recognisable Jeep design with stronger all-weather and trail ability than many road-focused compact crossovers.
