About Jaguar XK
The Jaguar XK was a luxury grand tourer offered as a two-door coupé and convertible. The modern range began with the XK8 in 1996, replacing the long-running XJS. It combined traditional Jaguar styling with a 2+2 cabin, rear-wheel drive and the brand’s first production V8 engine.
The original X100 generation included the standard XK8 and the supercharged XKR, which provided a more performance-focused specification. Its successor, known internally as the X150, entered production in late 2005. Renamed simply XK, it adopted lightweight aluminium body and chassis construction while retaining the front-engine grand touring format.
Depending on model year and market, the XK range included naturally aspirated and supercharged V8 engines. Major variations comprised the XK, XKR and more specialised XKR-S. The limited-production XKR-S GT added track-oriented aerodynamics, suspension changes and carbon-ceramic brakes, while coupé and convertible body styles remained central to the range.
Within Jaguar’s line-up, the XK occupied the premium sporting role, placing greater emphasis on long-distance comfort and refinement than a compact sports car. It is known for elegant proportions, strong V8 performance and a balance of luxury and handling. Production concluded in 2014, with final vehicles sold for the 2015 model year in some markets.
