The INFINITI QX70 is a five-seat luxury crossover known for combining SUV proportions with a low, coupe-like profile and an emphasis on road performance. It joined INFINITI’s QX naming system for the 2014 model year but was not an all-new vehicle: it was the renamed FX, a model line introduced for 2003. The QX70 represents the later phase of the second-generation FX, which arrived for 2009, rather than a separate generation.
Depending on market and model year, the range included naturally aspirated V6 and V8 petrol engines, plus a V6 diesel in some regions. Rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations were offered, generally with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Major versions included the QX70 3.7, 5.0 and 3.0d, while Sport, S Design, Premium and Limited variants or packages differed by country. North American availability ended after the 2017 model year.
Within INFINITI’s range, the QX70 occupied a performance-oriented position among the brand’s premium crossovers. It favoured distinctive styling and responsive handling over maximum passenger or cargo capacity.
