About Hyundai Xcent

The Hyundai Xcent is a small four-door sedan developed mainly for India and other emerging markets. Launched in India in March 2014, it was based on the first-generation Grand i10 hatchback and used a sub-four-metre body tailored to India’s compact-sedan class. It sat below the Verna, providing a booted alternative to the Grand i10.

The model had one main generation, with a major facelift arriving in 2017. The update brought revised front and rear styling and equipment changes while retaining the basic platform and cabin layout. Depending on market and year, the Xcent was sold with petrol or diesel engines, manual gearboxes and selected automatic options. Petrol-CNG versions were also offered in India.

The Xcent was positioned as an accessible family sedan and was also widely used by fleet and taxi operators. It is known for city-friendly dimensions, a practical cabin, a useful separate boot and a relatively generous range of comfort features for its class. Hyundai also offered the Xcent Prime as a commercial-focused version. In some export markets, related models used the Grand i10 sedan name.

The Xcent’s mainstream passenger-car role ended around 2020 as the Hyundai Aura became the brand’s newer compact sedan. Its simple packaging, broad variant range and close relationship with the popular Grand i10 continue to define its place in the used-car market.
