About Hyundai Porter
The Hyundai Porter is a compact cab-over light truck designed mainly for urban deliveries, small businesses and trade use. The name first appeared in South Korea in 1977 and returned in 1986 after a production break. Early versions included trucks and vans, although the Porter later became primarily associated with light-duty pickups.
Four generations have been produced. The second-generation model was built under licence from Mitsubishi, while the third generation, introduced in 1996, adopted Hyundai-developed bodywork. The fourth generation arrived in 2004 as the Porter II and has remained in production with regular updates. In export markets, related versions are often sold as the Hyundai H-100, with equipment, engines and names varying by country.
Common configurations include standard, extended and double cabs, along with different wheelbases and cargo-bed lengths. Chassis-cab and specialist derivatives support box, refrigerated, tipper, power-gate and other working bodies. Depending on model year and market, the range has offered diesel, LPG and electric powertrains, plus rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive layouts.
Within Hyundai’s commercial range, the Porter sits below larger trucks such as the Mighty. It is known for compact dimensions, efficient use of load space, straightforward construction and a wide choice of practical body styles. Its long-running role as a one-ton-class work vehicle has made it especially familiar in South Korea and several Asian, Middle Eastern and Latin American markets.
