About Hyundai ix20

The Hyundai ix20 is a compact five-door MPV developed primarily for European buyers. Introduced in 2010 as the successor to the Hyundai Matrix, it combined the exterior footprint of a small hatchback with the taller body and flexible cabin expected from a people carrier.

The model was built at Hyundai’s Nošovice plant in the Czech Republic from September 2010 until May 2019. It remained in a single generation throughout its production life. A substantial update appeared in 2015, bringing revised front and rear styling, improved equipment, updated engines and a newer six-speed automatic transmission on selected versions.

Depending on market and model year, the ix20 was offered with 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol or diesel engines, paired with manual or automatic gearboxes. Trim levels and equipment packages varied between countries, ranging from straightforward entry models to versions with features such as navigation, parking assistance, climate control and a panoramic roof.

Positioned as a practical alternative to conventional superminis and larger family MPVs, the ix20 was known for its high seating position, good visibility and spacious interior relative to its compact dimensions. Sliding and folding rear seats increased passenger and luggage flexibility. Its manageable size and comfort-focused character made it particularly suitable for urban driving, small families and owners seeking easier access without moving to a larger vehicle.
