About Hyundai IONIQ V
The Hyundai IONIQ V is a China-focused midsize battery-electric fastback sedan introduced at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026. Developed for Beijing Hyundai, it became the first dedicated IONIQ production model created for China and the opening product in Hyundai’s renewed local electric-vehicle strategy. The V refers to the Venus concept that previewed its design, rather than the number five.
As a new nameplate, the IONIQ V is in its first generation, with no earlier production versions. Its initial range is fully electric, with grades differentiated by range and equipment. The long-range version was announced with more than 600 km of range under China’s CLTC test cycle, although real-world results vary with conditions and use.
Within Hyundai’s Chinese lineup, the IONIQ V occupies the midsize electric-sedan class and emphasises local technology integration rather than adapting an existing global model. Notable qualities include a low, single-curve profile, frameless doors, a 2.9-metre wheelbase and a cabin designed around generous passenger space. It also combines a wide digital display, China-specific connected services, locally developed driver-assistance technology and a CATL lithium-iron-phosphate battery.
