About Hyundai Getz
The Hyundai Getz is a compact hatchback introduced in 2002. Developed with European markets in mind, it represented an important step towards more modern, internationally focused small cars for Hyundai. It competed mainly in the supermini or B-segment and was positioned above the smaller Atos in many markets.
The Getz was produced as a single generation, although availability dates varied by country. Three-door and five-door body styles were offered, with the five-door version providing easier rear-seat access. A substantial facelift appeared in 2005, bringing revised exterior styling, interior updates and changes to the engine range.
Depending on the market and model year, versions used a selection of four-cylinder petrol or diesel engines, paired with manual or automatic transmissions. Trim levels also differed considerably between regions. In India, the updated model was marketed as the Getz Prime, while the Getz name continued elsewhere.
The model is best known for combining compact exterior dimensions with a relatively spacious, flexible cabin. Straightforward controls, good visibility and practical packaging made it suitable for city driving, first-time owners and small families. The i20 began replacing the Getz in Europe from late 2008, introducing Hyundai’s newer model-naming system and a more contemporary approach to the small-car class.
