About Hyundai Aura
The Hyundai Aura is a four-door, five-seat subcompact sedan developed mainly for India and related export markets. Introduced in January 2020, it succeeded the Xcent as Hyundai’s principal small sedan for private buyers. It shares its platform and much of its mechanical package with the Grand i10 Nios hatchback, while adding a separate boot and sedan-specific exterior styling.
The Aura remains in its first generation. A substantial facelift arrived in 2023, bringing revised front-end styling, updated equipment and an expanded standard safety package. Early versions were offered with 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit and a petrol-CNG option, depending on market and model year. The current Indian range focuses on a 1.2-litre petrol engine with manual or automated manual transmission, plus a factory-equipped petrol-CNG version with a manual gearbox.
Built by Hyundai Motor India, the Aura sits below the larger Verna in the brand’s sedan range. Its sub-four-metre length places it in India’s tax-favoured compact-sedan class, where it competes as a practical alternative to similarly priced hatchbacks and small SUVs. The model is known for easy urban dimensions, useful luggage capacity, a well-packaged cabin and a broad selection of convenience features. It also serves export and fleet markets, with specifications varying by country.
