About Honda Spirior
The Honda Spirior is a mid-size four-door sedan developed for the Chinese market and produced by Dongfeng Honda in Wuhan from 2009 to 2018. It occupied a more premium, sport-oriented position in Dongfeng Honda’s range, complementing the smaller Civic and targeting buyers who wanted a driver-focused alternative among mainstream executive sedans.
Two generations were offered. The first was closely related to the eighth-generation European and Japanese Honda Accord, also sold in North America as the Acura TSX. It combined front-wheel drive, a 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a chassis tuned to balance responsive handling with everyday comfort.
The second generation arrived in late 2014 with styling and specifications tailored more specifically to China. Its range included 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre petrol models, with the higher-output 2.4-litre version paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Si served as the principal sporting variation, adding distinctive trim and equipment. A Sport Hybrid version later joined the line-up, using Honda’s 2.0-litre i-MMD dual-motor system.
The Spirior is mainly known for its driver-centred cabin, composed road manners and combination of Honda engineering with relatively generous comfort and technology features. Its limited market scope makes it less familiar internationally than the Accord, despite their shared background.
