About Honda Saber
The Honda Saber was a Japanese-market upper-medium car produced from 1995 to 2003. It replaced the Vigor and was closely related to the Honda Inspire, with the two models sold through different Honda dealer networks. The Saber generally received sportier exterior detailing, while sharing its main engineering and body structure with the Inspire.
Two generations carried the Saber name. The first was a four-door hardtop with front-wheel drive and an unusual longitudinal engine layout. Initial versions used 2.0- and 2.5-litre inline-five petrol engines, while the 32V flagship added a 3.2-litre V6. Grades included comfort-oriented models and the more sporting 25S.
The second generation arrived in 1998 as a more conventional four-door luxury sedan. Developed and built in the United States, it was related to the Acura TL and offered 2.5- or 3.2-litre V6 VTEC engines. Key variations included the 25V and better-equipped 32V, with automatic transmissions used throughout the range.
Within Honda’s line-up, the Saber sat above the Accord and below the flagship Legend. It was known for combining a refined cabin, long-distance comfort and composed handling with restrained sporting character. Honda discontinued the name in 2003 when the Saber and Inspire lines were consolidated under the Inspire badge.
