About Honda S660
The Honda S660 is a two-seat, open-top kei sports car developed for the Japanese market. Introduced in April 2015 after the S660 Concept appeared in 2013, it brought a dedicated mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout to the smallest class in Honda’s range. Production ended in March 2022.
Designed around Japan’s kei-car regulations, the S660 uses a turbocharged 660 cc three-cylinder engine. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission with paddle controls. Its compact dimensions, low seating position, removable fabric roll-top and 45:55 front-to-rear weight distribution prioritise agility and driver involvement over luggage capacity or long-distance practicality.
The model remained in a single generation, with a minor update in 2020. Core grades were β and the better-equipped α. Variations included the limited Concept Edition, several trim-focused special editions and the S660 Modulo X, introduced in 2018 with specific suspension, aerodynamic parts and interior details. The final Modulo X Version Z marked the end of the series.
Within Honda’s line-up, the S660 occupied a distinctive position as a lightweight sports car below the brand’s larger performance models. It is best known for combining kei-car proportions with a purpose-built sports chassis, responsive handling and a driver-focused cockpit.
